Tomorrow is “Safer Internet Day” a time to focus on using technology “responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively” with the main emphasis being how children interact with technology.
We at Nemark believe that, whilst this is great, it stops a little short. Maybe we can all use tomorrow to also consider the other ways we can be safe on the internet. Things like; password complexity and the frequency with which they are changed. Anti-Virus / Anti-Malware / Anti-Ransomware Detection. Backups! Do you take them? Are you backing up everything you need? Is there a backup off-site in a secure location? Are the backups encrypted to avoid data theft? Are the backups tested to ensure you can restore from them?
It’s not a nice subject to contemplate, but knowing you’re fully protected can definitely give you peace of mind in a digital age where potential threats are constantly evolving, and increasingly damaging. Be safe, not regretful!
